Even a Hole in the Ground is a Reason for Art

My art bud, James Gyre found this perfect urban reuse pic. Makes you want to go find a manhole cover to embellish, no?

Making Stuff from Stuff makes My Day

Salvage Art bud, Michelle Gregio and I spent a day in the sun working with Creative Reuse entreprenuers Faye Miller and Rachel Deniis at the Three rivers Arts Festival, recently. Here just a sample of the fun had by all!

The Little Quilt that Could...TKS to Red Bull!

I got the memo! Steve Dempsey of Red Bull, Inc. has notified me that my art has been accepted for the National Red Bull "Art of Can" Exhibition to be held in Washington, DC in October at Union Station, one of the most beautiful and historic sites in the country! The title of this work is "Bull as Folk." The quilt now has a life of its own, and is being photographed for future publicity. The question is: Will it send me a postcard?

The Black Street Boys

As an Art Instructor for Elena Houlihan's Black Street Garden Project, I had the good fortune to work with a group of spirited young men, doing community service. I believe doing art really changed them. One young man said to me, "Wow! I never thought it would be a woman, that would teach me how to use a hammer." That was one of the weird and the wonderful moments that permeated one of the most fulfilling assignments in my salvage career.
